The chiropractic profession has undertaken an extensive amount of research to show that chiropractors provide effective treatment that is patient-focused, low cost, low risk, and non-invasive. A significant amount of evidence also shows that the use of chiropractic care for problems such as acute and chronic lower-back pain, neck pain, headaches, and many other neuromusculoskeletal conditions can be more effective and less costly than traditional medical care.
Low Back & Neck Pain
A 2005 study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics concluded that chiropractic and medical care have comparable costs for treating low back pain, with chiropractic producing better outcomes for chronic pain. In addition, a 2003 study published in the medical journal Spine found that manual manipulation provides better short term relief of chronic spinal pain than does a variety of medications.
A 2007 literature review in the Journal of Manipulation and Physiological Therapeutics found that patients with chronic neck pain showed significant pain level improvements following spinal manipulation. All groups showed positive changes up to 12 weeks post treatment.

Headaches
A report in 2001 released by researchers at the Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center found that spinal manipulation resulted in almost immediate improvement for headaches that originate in the neck, and had significanlty fewer side effects and longer lasting relief of tension type headaches than a commonly prescribed medication.

Digestive Disorders
A survey of 1,494 patients found that 22% reported digestive relief following chiropractic treatments, even though the majority had never mentioned digestive issues to their chiropractors.
Pregnancy Low Back Pain
Over 90% of pregnant women with low back pain noted significant relief with chiropractic care.
Journal of Midwifery & Womens Health. 2006.
Manipulation is effective in reducing both the back pain during pregnancy and the occurence of back pain during labor. Only 28% of women that underwent chiropractic treatment experienced back pain during labor.

Pediatric Chiropractic
Nearly 3% of children were treated with chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation in 2007, making it the most common form of doctor-directed complementary or alternative medicine used by children. Also, 85% of parents reported improvements in their children's conditions.

Carpal Tunnel Pain
Carpal tunnel syndrome improved 80% with a course of chiropractic care including instrument assisted soft tissue mobilizations.
Journal of Manipulative & Physiological Therapeutics. 2007.
Painful Menstruation
Following a course of chiropractic treatments, women suffering from painful periods noted a 57% decrease in pelvic pain.

TMJ Pain(Jaw Pain)
